Welcome to my cottage industry website.  My name is Jenny Wright and I have lived in Bishops Waltham, Eastleigh and Fair Oak, Hampshire, all my life.

 

I started sewing at a very young age, taught primarily by my mum.  It has been a bit of a family tradition to teach the next generation to sew.  My mum was also taught by her mum.  Another family tradition that seems to have been passed on is the sewing machine wedding present gift.  Although my husband missed out on this gift, he has over the years saved a fortune on curtains and the taking up of many pairs of trousers!

 

Dressmaking was my first love, filling the plastic Sindy wardrobe with dolls clothes.  I made many mistakes, and learned from them!  As a teenager I enjoyed making my own clothes and creating crafts for the Hampshire Young Farmers' County Show.  When I married I thoroughly enjoyed sewing my wedding dress on the new machine.  I still use the same Singer sewing machine today.

 

I work from home in an extension of our house.  I undertake dressmaking and sewing alterations, as well as making and shortening curtains.  I enjoy creating different styles of cushions and soft furnishings, my latest being a memory cushion sewn from treasurered clothing from loved ones.  I am a little bit creative by nature and thoroughly enjoy sewing crafts from vintage and left over fabric remnants, many of which you can purchase from this site.
